Secure Meters wins prestigious smart metering award

Secure Meters Limited was adjudged the winner in the “4th India Power Award 2011” under the “Smart Meters and Equipments" category.

In the glittering award ceremony held on 24.11.2011 at New Delhi
during the conference on Green Power VII (for world development). The award was presented to Mr B S Babel from the Chief Guest, Dr. C. Rangarajan , Chairman, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister.

Secure Meters has exported more than half a million smart meters and is a preferred vendor to many utilities across the world. It is a leading player in the energy metering market in India and is a leading solution provider to utilities for products and services.

In order to achieve this, expansion of the regional transmission network and inter-regional capacity to transmit power would be essential. All over the world, power communities have realised that the capacity addition alone is not a solution to bridge the ever-widening gap between demand and supply. Reductions in energy demand and consumption by the end user can free up electricity generation, transmission and distribution capacity at a fraction of the cost required to provide new capacity.

Greenwise business - report compares challenge of smart meter roll-out to creation of internet

A new report highlights the massive challenge the roll-out of smart metering will pose for countries throughout western Europe – arguing that, as a telecommunications project, it is on a par with the creation of the internet.

The report, by market analysts Datamonitor, values the smart meter market across western Europe at between 15 and 26 billion and claims utility and telecoms industry processes in competitive markets such as the UK will need to be re-designed ahead of the roll-out.

BBC news - uk energy smart meter roll-out is outlined

Energy suppliers are to be responsible for installing smart meters in all households in the UK by 2020.

Plans for smart meters for millions of homes have been unveiled with trials suggesting the £8bn scheme may help people save £28 a year.

The Department for Energy and Climate Change wants to see 47 million meters in 26 million properties by 2020.
