Secure Load Control Solution
In many parts of the world street lights are owned and operated by local authorities. Street lights are rarely metered, are usually poorly controlled and often suffer from a lack of maintenance. The energy consumption is usually estimated and paid for on a ‘per street light pole’ basis. These factors lead to energy wastage and inefficient operation of individual street lights.
Energy suppliers, regulators and local authorities are becoming increasingly concerned about the wastage of energy and lack of accountability associated with street lights.
Secure Load Control combines the switching and metering of street lights in a weatherproof enclosure, thereby solving the problems of energy wastage and accountability. It consists of metering, load switch and power factor correction circuitry in a weatherproof enclosure. The lights are turned on or off either according to a pre-loaded scheme, or on demand using communications technologies, such as SMS messaging.
