Secure Distribution Transformer Monitoring System

A distribution transformer is the last asset in the electricity supply stream that is under the control of the distribution company. In theory only ‘technical’ losses should occur between the generator and the distribution transformer. Distribution companies often want to measure the losses within the sub-transmission system, between the sub-station feeder and the distribution transformers.

Our solution enables distribution transformers to be monitored so that losses and quality of supply can be determined. Each installation consists of a weatherproof enclosure containing an energy meter and associated current transformers. The meters are linked via appropriated communications platforms to a back-end computer which collects metering data and generates reports for the distribution company’s management information system.
