Thread-Through Metering

Conventional distribution transformer metering requires current transformers (CTs), voltage connections, terminal blocks and associated wiring. Installation is a complex process that is prone to error and the equipment is vulnerable to accidental damage or deliberate tampering.

Our elegant feed-through technology, as used in Prodigy meters, removes the need for external connections or equipment as everything is contained within the meter’s enclosure. Prodigy is easier and quicker to install than traditional meters and is much more resistant to tampering or accidental damage.

The live and neutral cables are fed through the enclosure of the Prodigy meter. Internal screw-taps are used to connect the voltage signals while integral CTs provide the current connections. As Prodigy meters grip the cables securely there is no need for poles to mount them on.
