Thermodynamic Loss Measurement
Conventional pump efficiency meters require the flow to be measured. This is often difficult to do on site and is subject to non-linear errors. Our Yatesmeters use the fundamental thermodynamic principle that losses in the machine are transferred to the fluid being pumped, in the form of heat. By measuring the differential temperature and head across the pump the losses can be calculated, from which the efficiency can be determined. As the power input is measured we can also calculate the flow, typically to an accuracy of 0.5%. Our thermodynamic loss measurement technology can be used with pumps with heads as low as 10 m.
