CALMU™

CALMU is the name of our proprietary technology for measuring electrical parameters for energy metering. It stands for Credit And Load Management Unit and has been refined through several generations since its inception in the 1980s. CALMU technology is an extremely elegant solution for measuring all the parameters necessary for energy metering. A dedicated metering engine performs all the metrological functions, using refined sampling techniques and Fast Fourier Transforms (FFT) rather than ‘brute force’ digital signal processing (DSP) methods. All CALMU meters are fully programmable and provide a wide range of functions.

Over the last twenty years many innovations in energy metering have been launched using the CALMU platform, ranging from the first approved solid-state billing meter in the UK, the keypad prepayment meter and the most sophisticated revenue protection meters. CALMU technology provides the foundation for accurate, intelligent and reliable metering systems for applications ranging from power stations to domestic smart meters.
